Feedback that actually lands and has an impact is an art so this morning when I saw this entry by Jessica Hagy at Forbes on How to Give Feedback I knew I had to share it… I am a loyal follower of Jessica’s and love the visual representations she uses to help get her messages across.
The only thing I would add to Jessica’s great post is:
Share your intention
By sharing your intention I don’t mean sharing the outcome that you want for you, rather the intention you have for the other person in receiving the feedback. What’s in it for them? Do you want them to have stronger relationships with peers? Do you want them to be seen as a credible and reliable resource? What is the outcome you want them to receive as a result of your feedback? Now share your intention at the very beginning of your feedback and notice how the other person responds to your message.
I would love leadership concepts to really stick for you and if you want that too, check out more of Jessica Hagy’s blog.
